hello from texas! although it is hotter than hades here, we are alive and well :)
curtis has been enjoying work but it is a little slow right now while they get everything up and running. he has been traveling a lot the past couple months and still has few more trips in september and october which has been hard but we're getting through it. mason has had a really hard time adjusting which has been terrible for us all. he went from a large, quiet house to a tiny noisy apartment (it doesn't help that the fire station is on the road behind us). during the day he is usually fine but he has a hard time sleeping at night with all the unfamiliar things going on around him. it will get better. hopefully sooner than later. sophie is growing, still as cute as ever! she is always blowing bubbles and is starting to coo and blab a lot more. and as for me, i stay home with the kids and try to keep my sanity :)
we really have enjoyed it here so far. we love the ward we are in and everyone here has been so nice. no wonder texans are so proud. it truly is a great place to live!
a few weeks ago we put on offer in on a house. it was a nice house for a good price and we decided to try for it. when we put the offer in we found out someone else had also just put in their offer. we gave them a price and felt at peace with our choice. if we got it, great! if not, we keep looking. we really knew that heavenly father would make it work out. they didn't accept our offer so we kept looking. a few days later we found a house online: brand new for the same price as used houses we were looking at. when curtis called on it, the realtor said that one was sold but the company was building another one that would be finished in a few months. so we met her at the model house and got a tour. it was an open floor plan (which is what we have been searching for), and had a large utility/pantry area (which is what i really wanted!!). after we talked to the representative and realtor, we knew this is why we didn't get the other house. this house is brand spanking new!! it is the same price as all the other used houses we were looking at plus they pay closing costs which is a huge advantage!! it's in a great location: close to shopping and schools and the freeway so curtis can jump on and get to work. our church is right down the road. there is a little pond where you can go fishing (catch and release :) and a spot set aside to build a park. they do the landscaping in the front and side yards, fence around the backyard and the kitchen comes with a stove, microwave, and dishwasher so all we have to buy is a fridge and washer and dryer! the representative texted me on friday and said the brick had arrived, they would probably start putting it up on monday, and she would send a picture when it was finished. it seriously is such a great deal and everything is working out great!! we are getting all the paperwork wrapped up and it should be done by the end of october/beginning of november! here are a few of the pictures. when we first saw the house on monday it was only framed and by wednesday the outside was basically done. we are so excited and will keep you posted on how things are going!
